Winston CSR & Pro Bono Specialist Named Chair of Reading Between the Lines

Winston & Strawn CSR & Pro Bono Specialist Ken Berry was elected Chair of the Board of Directors for Reading Between the Lines, a nonprofit that reduces recidivism by helping current and formerly incarcerated individuals improve their critical thinking and communication skills through group book discussions.

Ken’s affiliation with Winston & Strawn began in 1996, while he was victim of a wrongful conviction. A Winston & Strawn pro bono team obtained habeas corpus relief for Ken in 1999 and the acquittal of all charges against him in February, 2000. The following September, Ken joined Winston & Strawn as a paralegal.

Ken began volunteering with Reading Between the Lines in 2013 when the federal judge who had presided over his habeas petition introduced him to the founder of the organization.
