Winston & Strawn’s Paris Office Adds Tax Partner Thomas Pulcini
June 9, 2023
A few weeks after welcoming a transactional team of 11 lawyers, Winston & Strawn’s Paris office has strengthened its tax team with the arrival of Thomas Pulcini as a partner. He is joined by associate Alban Castarède and paralegal Corine Achkar.
Thomas specializes in legal and tax structuring, mainly in connection with LBO and capital development transactions. He assists private equity funds and management teams with all legal and tax structuring issues arising out of their leveraged buyout transactions.
Thomas began his career in 2013 with Paul Hastings (Paris office), where he was appointed of counsel in early 2022. He holds a Ph.D. in tax law and a master’s degree in tax law from the University of Paris XII.
Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2021, Alban holds a master’s degree in banking and finance law from the University of Paris II, Panthéon-Assas, and a master's degree in corporate taxation from the University of Paris IX, Dauphine.
“Beyond the professional prowess of Winston & Strawn’s lawyers, I was really attracted by the firm’s ambitious plans for growth. In addition, my private equity experience will round out the firm’s existing tax practice. The resulting synergies with Winston’s lawyers—and particularly the transactional team—make this move exciting and promising,” said Thomas.
Thomas joins Edouard de Rancher, with whom he will co-lead the Paris office’s tax practice, which now comprises seven lawyers, including two partners and one of counsel.
“Thomas shares our entrepreneurial culture, our emphasis on technical excellence, and our common vision for Winston’s continued growth. His knowledge of private equity is a real asset for our clients, and his arrival will help the office reach a critical mass of top-caliber lawyers,” said Paris Office Managing Partner Jérôme Herbet.
“Thomas is a lawyer renowned for his deep experience in transactional legal and tax issues and for his pragmatic approach to client service,” said Paris Partner Grine Lahreche. “Having worked with him for several years, I know that his background will complement the services we offer and enable us to better serve Winston & Strawn’s clients both in France and around the globe.”
