Winston & Strawn has been profiled by Law360 as an Illinois Powerhouse, highlighting the firm’s continued impact in the region.

The firm was selected for its prominence in Illinois, particularly in handling litigation and antitrust matters. Among the matters highlighted were our lawyers’ defeat of an $11 billion class action in the Seventh Circuit; the dismissal of four consolidated antitrust class actions; the transfer of an antitrust case from New Jersey federal court to Illinois; and a review of Illinois’ gambling rules secured by attorneys on behalf of client challenging a legislative licensing scheme devised by the Illinois Gaming Board.

“Antitrust is an important area of practice for us, and it has been for some time,” Chicago Managing Partner Linda Coberly said. “What you see from our Chicago office is a real show of the expertise we have here in the courts in our district.”

“It’s rare to actually achieve these types of victories in complex, complicated antitrust lawsuits. So we’re definitely really proud,” said Jim Herbison, an antitrust litigation partner in the Chicago office. “We’ve really become one of the go-to firms for this not just in Illinois, but nationally.”

Since our founding in the city in 1853, Winston has always been proud to be a part of the Chicago community. The firm is committed to engaging with the local community in meaningful ways, including through a number of notable pro bono cases in the state this year.
