May 11-12, 2023

Winston & Strawn proudly hosted the first Corporate Litigation Counsel Trial Advocacy Program sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers. The two-day program took place at Winston’s Chicago office May 11-12, 2023, and was designed to further the ACTL’s commitment to professionalism and excellence in courtroom advocacy and to improve trust, confidence, and belief in the civil justice system.

Winston Partners and ACTL Fellows Kimball Anderson, George Lombardi, and Dan Webb, along with other experts, led this new and in-depth program designed to equip in-house litigation counsel to better manage litigation. Keynote speakers for the program included Michael O’Donnell, ACTL Past President and Firm Chair at Wheeler Trigg & O’Donnell, and Dane Drobny, Former General Counsel of Sears and Groupon and Partner at Winston & Strawn. The complimentary program was a one-of-a-kind opportunity for in-house counsel and covered a variety of topics, including:

  • Trial Counsel
  • Protecting the Record on Appeal
  • Fair Juries and Jury Research
  • Ethics for In-House Counsel Managing Litigation
  • Selecting Expert Witnesses and Direct and Cross Examination Strategies
  • Opening Statement and Closing Argument Demonstrations
