Ugarte Speaks at ICC Conference on International Arbitration in the Middle East and North Africa

Winston & Strawn partner Ricardo Ugarte spoke at the ICC Second Annual Conference on International Arbitration in the Middle East and North Africa, held March 10-12, 2014 in Dubai.

Mr. Ugarte presented the panel, “Arbitrating Oil and Gas disputes in the Middle-East.” Most countries in the MENA expressly allow for the use of arbitration in the oil and gas sector. In this session, current issues and potential pitfalls in arbitrating energy disputes with MENA parties were discussed by international and local practitioners. The panel also examined the involvement of State parties, the benefits and risks of the arbitral process, and the enforcement of awards in oil and gas arbitrations.
