Tom Melsheimer Featured in Texas Lawbook Discussing Patent Litigation in Texas
August 31, 2021
Dallas Managing Partner Tom Melsheimer recently spoke with Texas Lawbook regarding patent litigation in Texas. Texas maintains two of the three busiest patent dockets in the U.S. and recent data confirms the number of patent infringement lawsuits being filed in the Lone Star State show no indication of slowing down.
According to Texas Lawbook, purported patent owners lodged 790 complaints in the four federal court districts in Texas between Jan. 1 and June 30, indicating a 15% increase over the final six months of 2020.
Tom attributes that growth to Judge Alan Albright, a long-time intellectual property litigator and former federal magistrate who now oversees the Western District.
“The judge is hard working, understands the issues, treats lawyers with respect and dignity and works hard to get the right result,” said Tom.
