Winston & Strawn and Cornerstone Intellectual Property Foundation hosted a seminar titled “The Evolving Landscape of Competition Law” on September 23 in Taipei City, Taiwan. This complimentary program addressed the state of global cartel enforcement and the intersection of competition law and intellectual property.
The seminar featured a discussion of the following topical issues:
- Worldwide Trends in Cartel Enforcement – Partner Peter Crowther addressed current cartel enforcement activity around the world, with a particular focus on the United States and European Union. This session also provided guidance and best practices for implementing effective compliance programs.
- The Intersection of Competition Law and Intellectual Property – Partner Jeffrey Kessler examined the increasing number of legal management issues facing U.S. and Taiwan companies, including highlights from the recently filed “Steel Cases” in the ITC, the rise of government competition enforcement against patent licensing regimes, and tightening antitrust scrutiny over patent pools and standard setting organizations that depend on free and open markets to fund their creation of intellectual property rights.
