Winston was featured in The American Lawyer following the firm’s addition of six lateral partners across Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C., and Dallas in April, further strengthening key practices including leveraged finance, investigations, intellectual property, and appellate litigation.
Firm Chairman Steve D’Amore spoke with The American Lawyer about the firm’s strategic focus on areas that “drive modern markets,” including critical transactions, strategic IP, major litigation, and private wealth. “Another way to think about that is to think about the markets, the people and the businesses that are important to innovation,” Steve said. “And that has both an IP piece and a transactions piece. So the innovation is really important. And also capital—our finance practice, the private wealth practice, the private equity practice.”
The article highlights Winston’s continued investment in priority markets. “In terms of markets, the ones that are most important to us are New York, Texas, Northern California, Europe—and if I were ever to leave out Chicago, go ahead and pinch me,” Steve noted.
Looking ahead, Steve also emphasized the firm’s growing global platform and its ability to attract top-tier talent across practices and reiterated that the firm’s anticipated combination with Taylor Wessing will further enhance its momentum. “The combination is something that adds to the platform of both firms and makes us more attractive to lateral candidates,” he said.
