Partner and former federal prosecutor Steve Grimes participated in a Q&A session with Corporate Compliance Insights, a knowledge-sharing forum designed to educate and encourage informed interaction within the corporate compliance, governance, and risk community.

The interview covers a broad range of pressing compliance-related questions. With respect to current legal issues facing corporate compliance officers, risk managers, etc., the attorneys cite corruption, antitrust, trade risks, privacy and information security, and theft of trade secrets by both internal and foreign actors. Steve also offers insights on how to stay current on ethics and compliance matters; the optimal reporting structure for CCOs; how they recommend effecting change within their clients’ organizations; the greatest business and regulatory risks facing companies today and how to prepare for them; how they help clients mitigate risk; and legislative and policy changes on the horizon that will likely impact compliance professionals.

Asked for his best advice to clients, Steve replied: “Compliance is a continuum... [C]hanges cannot come overnight... [T]aking specific, tailored, and measurable steps to continuously improve the program, over time, is the best way to achieve lasting results.”
