Winston & Strawn advertising partner Ron Rothstein spoke at the Food and Drug Law Institute's annual Food Week 2012 held January 23-26, 2012 in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Rothstein participated in the panel, "Managing Liability in an Increasingly Litigious Environment: Class Actions, State Attorneys General, and Lanham Act Cases." This panel discussed food-related class action suits, litigation claims involving terms such as "natural," "real fruit," and "0 trans fat," and the labeling of foods with genetically engineered ingredients. More specifically, the panel reviewed:

  • The real-world implications of food labeling and advertising litigation
  • Recent significant actions taken by state attorneys general
  • Updates on Lanham Act litigation

Joining Mr. Rothstein was Steven Ellcessor from Frost Brown Todd, and Michael Reese from Reese Richman. The panel was moderated by Bruce Silvergrade from Olsson, Frank, Weeda, Terman, and Matz.
