Winston & Strawn litigation partner Ricardo Ugarte, who is based in the Chicago office and focuses his practice on international arbitration, international litigation, and complex commercial litigation, has been chosen to serve on the Task Force on Arbitrations Involving States or State Entities established by the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

Earlier this year, the ICC asked each of its country members, including the United States Council for International Business (USCIB) to select top candidates to serve on this Task Force, whose mission includes studying and identifying the essential features of investor-state arbitrations and enhancing the role of the ICC in the resolution of such disputes. The USCIB nominated Ugarte, who was then selected to serve.

For more than 15 years, Ugarte has advised a wide variety of clients, including financial institutions, telecommunication concerns, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, major consumer-goods manufacturers, and foreign sovereignties on a broad range of civil disputes.
