Winston & Strawn partner Peter Crowther, based in the firm's London office, spoke at Legal Week's Corporate Counsel Forum 2012 on September 11, 2012 in Bedfordshire, UK. The theme of this tenth annual Forum was "Beyond legal advice– Turning turbulence into opportunity," and examined how general counsel can position themselves at the heart of their business while navigating an increasingly unpredictable and regulated commercial environment.

Mr. Crowther, who has significant experience of EU merger control, national and international cartels, state aid, trade/sanctions, free movement, and other general EU and competition law, will speak on the panel titled "Competition - the evolving regulatory issues in the UK and Europe." In this session, panelists will address the impending merger between the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission and flux of competition policy. Mr. Crowther will be joined by Anne Fletcher, compliance director of Royal Mail, Ed Gretton, head of legal at Hanson, and Paolo Palmigiano, head of competition law at Lloyds Banking Group. Martin Cave, economist and deputy chairman of Competition Commission, will chair the panel.

Winston & Strawn also served as a sponsor of this year's event.
