Matthew Carter Comments on Raised Price to Take the Illinois Bar Exam
January 13, 2012
Litigation attorney Matthew Carter, an associate in the firm's Chicago office, was quoted in the January 13, 2012 Chicago Daily Law Bulletin article titled "Bar exam fees rise for first time since 1998."
For the first time in over a decade the cost of taking the Illinois bar exam has increased. The Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar proposed the cost hike and the Illinois Supreme Court approved the order in early January.
"Students currently preparing for the bar aren't likely to greet the change with enthusiasm," said Carter. "The expense of law school has risen so much that any additional cost is difficult. On the other hand, once you're at the point where you're taking the bar exam, that extra fee is not going to be the end-all, be-all."
Carter graduated from law school in 2006 and focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, appellate litigation, white-collar criminal defense, and corporate internal investigations.
