Litigating the Second Amendment: Gun Safety Advocacy in the Wake of Heller and Bruen

On November 3, Winston & Strawn’s Chicago office hosted a symposium that brought together practitioners and scholars for a discussion of the issues that impact litigation involving the Second Amendment, gun violence prevention, and firearm industry accountability. The symposium focused on the practical and ethical issues raised by the Supreme Court’s “originalist” and “historical” approach to interpreting the Second Amendment.

The event was sponsored by the Kimball R. and Karen Gatsis Anderson Center for Advocacy and Professionalism at the University of Illinois College of Law and Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Dean Jamelle Sharpe provided the opening remarks, followed by remarks from former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and Congressman Eric Swalwell. Partner Kimball Anderson delivered the symposium’s closing remarks.
