Linda Coberly Receives 2017 Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service

On May 24, 2017, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, in conjunction with the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, recognized Chicago Managing Partner Linda Coberly with the 2017 Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service. Now in its eighteenth year, the annual awards celebrate attorneys for their contributions in helping people most in need of assistance. Linda was nominated for this prestigious award by the Heartland Alliance’s National Immigrant Justice Center for her work on behalf of the named plaintiffs in Jimenez-Moreno et al. v. Napolitano et al.—a class action that fundamentally changed how the federal government approaches the issuance of immigration detainers against individuals in law enforcement custody.

Recently, based upon her impact professionally and as a leader in the Chicago community, Linda was recognized by Chicago Business Journal’s 2017 Women of Influence.
