Winston & Strawn Partner and Appellate & Critical Motions Practice Chair Linda Coberly made an appearance on “Chicago Tonight” to discuss Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement and legacy.

Linda has a longstanding relationship with Justice Breyer, as she clerked for him early in her career.

“I remember hearing him speak during [Clinton’s impeachment] on the State of the Union and about the deep importance of Justices attending. . .Justice Breyer felt it was really important that the Court [attend] and did so even when he was literally the only Justice to attend,” Linda said, adding “that it was a sign of how much he cares about the institutions of government.”

Justice Breyer has been on the Supreme Court since 1994, and his retirement will give the Biden administration the opportunity to appoint a replacement.
