Law360 Names Winston & Strawn a 2022 Illinois Powerhouse

Winston & Strawn has been profiled by Law360 as an Illinois Powerhouse. The 2022 Regional Powerhouses list recognizes firms “handling some of the biggest deals and most high-profile courtroom battles across nine states, offering clients regional expertise, and making a lasting impact on the law at the state and local levels.”

Selected by Law360 for its prominence in the Chicago legal community, Winston demonstrated its longstanding ties to the area in pursuing the successful prosecution of actor Jussie Smollett. “It was a great example of our firm answering the call … for pro bono service for high-profile cases that I think a lot of other folks don't have the [resources to handle],” said Partner Sean Wieber, who served as a deputy special prosecutor in the case, which he referred to as “an example of the firm’s investment in the community.”

Chicago Office Managing Partner Cardelle Spangler also attributed Winston’s success in Illinois to its “cross-industry approach” when working with major corporate clients; she specifically cited the firm’s work for TreeHouse Foods in a securities fraud case. She stated, “We employed some fairly creative [ideas]—which I think is a real hallmark of our litigation practice.”
