Kathi Vidal’s Move to Winston Featured in The Recorder
April 20, 2017
Intellectual Property Litigator Kathi Vidal’s move to Winston & Strawn was featured in the April 20, 2017, issue of The Recorder. The article, “Katherine Vidal to Lead Winston's Silicon Valley Push,” profiles Kathi and her new role as managing partner of the Silicon Valley office.
Kathi joins from Fish & Richardson where she led the firm’s litigation group. She is now reunited with members of her former firm who recently left to launch Winston’s Dallas office. After their move, she thought: “Obviously, there’s something at Winston I need to look at.” Further explaining, “I feel that my goals and values are aligned with Winston. Sometimes the light bulb just goes on.”
Kathi told The Recorder that she welcomes the opportunity and challenge of building out Winston’s office in the Valley, which was established in 2013. “Silicon Valley is its own culture. You can’t import that culture and that thinking. I don’t think it works for companies. I don’t think it works for startups. I don’t think it works for law firms.”
Lisa Buccino, a director of global litigation at SAP AG, has worked with Kathi on a number of matters. She said: “While it sounds like a challenge, I think it's a real natural fit. She’s always been one to break the mold.”
