Winston & Strawn partner Kathi Vidal, who previously served as Under Secretary of Commerce for IP, Director of the USPTO, and the presidential advisor on intellectual property, was featured on an episode of Federally Employed Women’s LEAP With FEW, a podcast where Federally Employed Women and their guests talk about ways to lead, educate, affect, and persist. In the episode, Kathi shared her origin story and journey to her position at the USPTO, how it impacted her leadership style, professional reflections, and upcoming passion projects.

Kathi highlighted her goal of helping the private sector bolster the initiatives of the USPTO, noting her initiative at the agency of bringing more libraries nationwide into the innovation and entrepreneurship system to help more people in their communities. Kathi founded the Chiefs in Intellectual Property (ChIPs) USPTO chapter with the goal of working together to advance the national strategy for inclusive innovation and supporting women and anybody who is underrepresented in innovation, entrepreneurship, STEM, and more.
