Joanna Collias Addresses Chicagoland Title IX Consortium

Joanna Collias, of counsel in Winston & Strawn’s Litigation Department, spoke on a panel titled “Title IX and Athletics: Lessons Learned in Compliance and Communication from the Michigan State University Case.” The event was held at Roosevelt University in Chicago on April 13, 2018.

Joined by an associate general counsel from DePaul University; the deputy chief attorney with Chicago Office of Department of Education Office of Civil Rights; the head women’s basketball coach at Illinois Institute of Technology; an assistant athletic director from Notre Dame; and the dean of students at Roosevelt University, Joanna and her fellow panelists addressed:

• How Title IX and athletics can work in collaboration to prevent systemic gaps
• The insular culture of athletics at the college level

Title IX staff and athletic department staff from over 50 area universities attended this collaborative event.

Joanna, a former student athlete at the University of Michigan, is a complex commercial litigator in Winston’s Chicago office.
