James Herbison Named a 2018 M&A-Antitrust Trailblazer by the NLJ

Winston & Strawn Chicago-based litigator James Herbison is recognized as a 2018 M&A-Antitrust Trailblazer by the National Law Journal. The annual list profiles attorneys making an impact on the antitrust and M&A landscape through new strategies and innovative court cases.

The publication recognizes Jim as a trailblazer for several antitrust cases throughout his career including his representation of client WestRock that resulted in a significant win and rare complete victory for a defendant in an antitrust conspiracy case. “That win from WestRock resulted in some other wins…Hopefully, it provides a nice roadmap for the future,” Jim said.

As for the future of antitrust, Jim predicts there will be continued pressure on both civil and criminal enforcement. “It’s been hot for a while and will likely continue. We’ve seen a lot in manufacturing, health care, and financial services, as well as emerging technologies. It’s an area where antitrust law is trying to catch up to the innovation that’s caught on.”
