Is the UK Poised for a Surge in SPAC Listings?

In a GlobalCapital article outlining Europe’s first SPAC listing of 2021, Winston & Strawn Partner Paul Amiss explains that an increasing number of market participants believe there is an opportunity for the European SPAC market to grab some of the US market share. This is a result of the excessive US demand outstripping the supply of suitable US-based targets.

Paul added that the lack of a UK market for SPACs is historically due to low investor confidence in the model but introducing US style investor protections into the UK model should kick start the UK market.
