Eva Davis Discusses New Private Equity Investment Tactics with the Daily Journal
March 10, 2014
Winston & Strawn partner Eva Davis was quoted in the Daily Journal article, “Private Equity Funds Employ Creative Strategies To Put Their Money To Work,” published March 10, 2014.
The article discusses how private equity and leveraged buyout funds have been exploring new investment tactics, such as debt lending and minority-stake investing, in response to constrained and competitive outlets for the mega-deals that have defined them in the past. Ms. Davis said that these tactics are being considered more frequently by funds in order to cast a wider net when seeking to deploy capital, and attorneys have the ability to be creative in the ways in which they help their private equity clients structure these deals.
"There's not a wealth of aggregated market information on minority investment deal terms for private equity," Ms. Davis said. "It gives you great flexibility to be creative when you're negotiating deal terms because you don't feel constrained by market norms."
Eva Davis is chair of the West Coast private equity group at Winston & Strawn. For more than 20 years, Ms. Davis has advised her clients on U.S. and cross-border complex business transactions with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity.
