Deborah Jagoda Speaks at New York State Association of Independent Schools’ Workshop on Gender

Deborah Jagoda, a senior attorney in Winston & Strawn’s Labor & Employment Department, spoke at the New York Association of Independent Schools’ Best Practices in Supporting Gender Fluid, Gender Questioning, and Transgender Children in Independent Schools on February 2.
Ms. Jagoda was joined by The Berkeley-Carroll School Head Robert Vitalo. Together they presented “The Legal Perspective,” focusing on schools as employers, as well as educators. This session addressed the following questions:
- What policies do schools need to have in place?
- How do schools educate and protect their teachers and their students?
Ms. Jagoda represents employers with respect to all aspects of labor and employment law. Her practice includes employment litigation, administrative proceedings, and arbitration, as well as counseling and negotiation regarding a wide variety of issues, including labor disputes and collective bargaining, equal employment opportunities laws, human resources decisions and policies, employment contracts, changes in corporate control, and bankruptcy.
