David Enzminger Discusses Winston’s Patent Litigation Practice with Law360

Intellectual Property Practice Co-Chair David Enzminger was quoted in Law360’s article “The Firms That Landed the Most Patent Suits Last Year” highlighting the firms that worked on the most new patent litigation in 2015 at the district court level.

Winston & Strawn amassed the third most new patent cases – a total of 80 – on the defense side. Mr. Enzminger credits the firm’s trial experience as one of its main attractions. With nearly 200 IP lawyers, including 80 with technical backgrounds, the firm led 19 jury trials over the last three years.

“We get good results for clients, and we have a deep bench of litigators who can try cases,” Mr. Enzminger explained, noting the firm had more than 20 partners who served as first chair on patent trials.

While the patent litigation market appeared to be on a downward trend, Mr. Enzminger told the publication that he expected that the practice’s busy 2015 would likely extend into this year.

“I don’t think there is tremendous growth because the industry is down a bit, but we do seem to be holding our own,” Mr. Enzminger stated.
