As hacking attacks are on the rise, breach notice law requirements are more likely to be triggered. In this three-part series, Winston attorneys provide hands-on simulations for data breach response preparedness. From dealing with bad press to handling investigations, to responding to attorneys’ general and other government investigators, the series covers the gamut of issues that companies face after being the victim of a hacking attack or other data incident. Each session is moderated by Winston privacy attorneys and is held in-person at our Chicago office.

The first session was held on April 23. It’s everyone’s worst nightmare. Your company suffers a breach. The news leaks onto social media. What do you do? How do you handle it? What kinds of statements will help solve the problem, and what will make it worse? Using an interactive social media simulator developed by Polpeo, an eModeration company, you will experience what it would be like to be in the middle of a crisis unfolding on social media. You can try different techniques to manage the ‘angry public’ online and see how they respond to your actions. You’ll come away having experienced the closest thing possible to a live social media crisis and armed with practical advice on how to handle a crisis should your brand be attacked.

Session II and Session III are scheduled for June 3 and September 24, respectively.
