June 12, 2014

Winston & Strawn hosted an eLunch titled “Crazy Californians: Employment Laws Like You’ve Never Seen” on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. (Central).

In most states, if you follow the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you also comply with state law. This is not the case in California. California has laws on EVERYTHING. If you have employees in California and are trying to figure out whether federal or state law applies, this eLunch discussed whether California law applies to your employees and the requirements for paychecks, wage statements, and other disclosures that simply do not exist under federal law.

Winston & Strawn Associate Jason Campbell, along with Julie Capell, presented a practical and interactive presentation that will focus on California wage and hour laws. Topics discussed included:

  • Daily overtime
  • Meal periods, rest breaks, and recovery periods
  • Exempt employee criteria
  • Wage statements
  • Paychecks
  • Wage theft protection act
  • Vacation pay – no “use it or lose it”
  • Seating claims
  • Commission agreements

Contact Winston & Strawn for more information about this event.

An eLunch is a complimentary, interactive seminar where participants watch and listen to a presentation given by Winston & Strawn attorneys over the Internet.

Clients and friends of the firm are invited to attend seminars and events. We reserve the right to limit attendance at any firm event.

NOTE: CLE credit is not available for listening to our pre-recorded eLunch or webinar briefings.
