Linda Coberly, a partner in Winston & Strawn's Chicago office and vice chair of the appellate and critical motions practice group, will moderate the Chicago Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society's "2010-2011 Supreme Court Term Preview." The presentation will be held at Winston & Strawn's Chicago office on November 12.

This panel presentation will preview selected cases before the Supreme Court in its 2010-2011 Term. Cases to be covered include Snyder v. Phelps (on whether funeral picketing is protected by the First Amendment); Connick v. Thompson (liability of prosecutor's office for failure to train prosecutors of their responsibilities under Brady v. Maryland); Allshouse v. Pennsylvania (a Crawford issue); and the so-called quartet of preemption cases regarding immigration, seat belt use, and vaccinations (U.S. Chamber of Commerce v. Whiting, Bruesewitz and Williamson v. Mazda Motor of America, and AT&T v. Concepcion).

Panelists will include: Steven J. Heyman, Professor of Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law and Member of the Board of Advisors for the American Constitution Society Chicago Lawyer Chapter; Andrea D. Lyon, Associate Dean for Clinical Programs, Clinical Professor of Law, Director of the Center for Justice in Capital Cases, and Supervisor of Death Penalty Legal Clinic at DePaul University College of Law; and Steven D. Schwinn, Associate Professor of The John Marshall Law School and Member of Board of Advisors for the American Constitution Society Chicago Lawyer Chapter.
