December 2010

Linda Coberly, a partner in Winston & Strawn's Chicago office and vice chair of the appellate and critical motions practice group, was quoted in the December 2010 edition of Inside Counsel. In the article, "Year in Review 2010," Ms. Coberly comments on Justice Elena Kagan, the fourth female justice to serve on the Supreme Court. With Justice Kagan, there is now a total of three active female justices. "Having a Supreme Court that more closely reflects the gender makeup of the population is a very encouraging signal to women at all levels in the [legal] profession," she said. She went on to comment: "In most cases, businesses—like all litigants—are looking for judges who are very smart, analytically careful and fair," says Coberly. "There is every reason to believe that Justice Kagan has those qualities."
