China Anti-Monopoly Law: Impact on French Companies Doing Business in China
28 May 2015
On May 28, 2015, Winston & Strawn’s Paris office hosted a breakfast seminar titled “China Anti-Monopoly Law: Impact on French Companies Doing Business in China.”
With China vigorously enforcing its seven-year-old Anti-Monopoly Law, it is expected to become one of the key competition jurisdictions alongside the E.U. and U.S. In 2014, Chinese competition agencies blocked the P3 shipping alliance between Maersk, MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, and French shipping company CMA CGM and investigated major international companies such as Microsoft, Qualcomm, Daimler, BMW, Essilor, and Zeiss for antitrust violations.
China’s nascent competition regime is dramatically changing the international market environment for companies doing business around the globe.
This presentation provided some insight on the following hot topics:
- Antitrust clearance in China—a crucial step for your M&A projects
- China antitrust investigations of international companies—current cases and future trends
- China antitrust litigation—an increasing threat for international businesses in China
Paris-based partner Jérôme Herbet also attended the seminar.
