Charlie Papavizas Speaks at the 2012 Offshore Alternatives Conference

Maritime partner Charlie Papavizas spoke at the 2012 Offshore Alternatives Conference, held February 28-29, 2012 in Baltimore, MD. This event examined the development of wind, wave, and tidal offshore renewables, and explored the opportunities that they may create for marine service vessel companies.

Mr. Papavizas led a session titled "How does the Jones Act apply to offshore alternative energy projects?” Additional topics addressed at the conference included:

• Putting alternative energy into perspective
• Permitting lifecycle for offshore energy projects
• Building a grid to handle offshore alternative energy
• Lessons from wind farm development in Europe
• Lessons learned from New England’s development of offshore renewable energy
• Maintenance and support vessels for offshore wind farms
