Charlie Papavizas Moderates Panel Discussions at Offshore Wind Implementation Conference
September 5, 2018
Maritime Partner Charlie Papavizas will moderate two panel discussions at Infocast’s Offshore Wind Implementation Conference September 5-7, 2018 in Teaneck, New Jersey. The conference theme is Rapidly Reducing the Costs of Offshore Wind in the U.S.
The first discussion, titled “Preparing Ports for Staging Offshore Wind,” will address the following topics:
- What is needed to prepare U.S. ports to stage offshore wind developments?
- How will requirements change as new larger turbines and towers begin to be deployed?
- Is there a possibility for neighboring states to cooperate on projects and staging ahead?
Charlie will also lead the “Developing Jones Act Compliant Marine Logistics Capabilities” panel. Topics covered will include:
- What strategies are available to developers now?
- Are needed U.S.-flagged specialty vessels available or under construction?
- Are there workarounds given what is currently available under the U.S. flag?
Charlie focuses his practice on administrative, legislative, and finance matters, primarily in the maritime industry. He is frequently consulted on the application of U.S.-flag laws and regulations, particularly the application of U.S. coastwise laws (Jones Act) to cargo, passenger, and vessel movements and investments in U.S. companies.
