Cari Stinebower Speaks with Inbound Logistics About the Do’s and Don’ts of Importing
October 21, 2022
Winston & Strawn Partner Cari Stinebower spoke with Inbound Logistics about some of the do’s and don’ts of importing when addressing today’s global logistics challenges.
Cari provided insights on how assembling a triage team across functions can help companies operate in changing geopolitical environments. She explains how triage teams are “cross-functional groups that can evaluate supply chain, logistics, and other operational challenges from multiple perspectives and then move quickly.” She continued by stating that Latin America is an area where triage teams may be useful, specifically when it comes to the close ties between Colombia and Venezuela, due to concerns of corruption, a volatile regulatory environment, and the difficulties with repatriation of earnings out of Venezuela.
“This shift is triggering a pause for many companies that had been considering taking advantage of Colombia’s free trade zone,” Cari added.
She also touched on engaging trade associations, which can be helpful in allowing businesses to discuss with the U.S. government challenges they face when engaging in cross-border trade and can help companies create programs to address challenges.
