Brinker, Kirby, Duran, Concepcion, and Dukes – What’s Next for Wage and Hour Class Actions – a Plaintiff’s and Defense Counsel Perspective
May 17, 2012
Winston & Strawn hosted an eLunch titled "Brinker, Kirby, Duran, Concepcion, and Dukes – What’s Next for Wage and Hour Class Actions – a Plaintiff’s and Defense Counsel Perspective" on May 17, at 12:15 (Central).
The past year has seen a seismic shift in the employment litigation landscape. Several major cases have had a deep impact on wage and hour litigation and the class action certification process. The Brinker, Kirby, Duran, Concepcion, and Dukes decisions have generated a lot of commentary, and have raised the following questions:
- With each side claiming that some of these decisions can be generalized as wins, who is right?
- Does this mean the end of class actions?
- How should employers comply with wage and hour laws in this new environment?
Winston & Strawn partner Joan Fife, along with plaintiffs’ attorney Bryan Schwartz, led a lively, interactive discussion that examined both plaintiffs’ and defense counsel’s reactions to these decisions and offered predictions on what comes next.
An eLunch briefing is a complimentary interactive seminar offered by Winston & Strawn LLP over the Internet. You'll watch and listen to a presentation at your own computer given by Winston & Strawn attorneys.
