Bobby Malhotra Quoted in Legaltech News After Discussing Generative AI in the Legal Profession During Legalweek Panel

Winston & Strawn partner Bobby Malhotra was quoted in a LegalTech News article after speaking on a panel titled “The GAI Paradox: Torn Between Fear and Desire” during Legalweek 2024, where panelists examined the appeal of generative artificial intelligence’s efficiency and accuracy in sifting through vast amounts of data, against concerns of data security, ethical considerations, and the potential loss of human touch in legal processes. Many in the legal profession see such technology finally making overly technical, difficult tasks more accessible.
“For the first time, you can take a nontechnical lawyer and they can address problems and ask questions about their dataset, they don’t need to rely on people to run complex search queries. … There are some very nontechie lawyers out there that are excited about using AI,” said Bobby.
He added that because of this enthusiasm, for law firms it is “very important is to have a generative AI policy and provide the tools. Your users are going to use it regardless, but provide the tools that are acceptable to you.”
