Anderson Represents American Airlines in Verdict Reversal

Kimball Anderson, a litigation partner based in Winston & Strawn's Chicago office, was quoted in the article "Court reverses $1 million verdict involving airline," which was featured in the August 6 edition of Law Bulletin. Mr. Anderson argued before the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals who reversed the verdict to a former American Airlines Inc. baggage handler who asserted that the airline retaliated against him for claiming workers' compensation benefits. Judge Frank H. Easterbrook stated that the case should have never reached a jury and that "undisputed facts require judgment in the employer's favor." Mr. Anderson, who represents American Airlines, said: "The court of appeals agreed with us that the record was uncontroverted and that the case should not have gone to the jury."
