In Memoriam:
Nicholas E. Rodriguez
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our colleague and friend, Nicholas E. Rodriguez, a respected partner in our Miami office and an extraordinary lawyer, mentor, and human being. Nicholas passed away on November 8, 2025, at the age of 58.
Over more than two decades of practice, Nicholas built a reputation as a strategic, service-oriented practitioner trusted by clients across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. His work spanned complex domestic and cross-border M&A, private equity, restructurings, and joint ventures, with particular depth in the energy, infrastructure, financial services, media, and telecommunications sectors.
Nicholas joined Winston in June 2022, shortly after the Miami office opened, and quickly became a pillar of the office. He represented strategic and private equity investors, and multi-national corporations in transformative transactions, including most recently several high-profile matters in the telecommunications sector. His leadership extended beyond client work as he served on the U.S.-Colombia Business Council’s Board of Directors and played an active role in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Coalition for the Rule of Law in Global Markets.
Nicholas’s impact reached far beyond the deal table. Born in Medellín, Colombia, and fluent in Spanish, he carried with him a deep appreciation for the sacrifices his parents made and the importance of education, opportunity, and community. He gave generously of his time by mentoring younger lawyers, teaching as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law, and championing first-generation professionals. He believed passionately in empowering others, especially women in the legal and business communities, and his dedication to building a brighter future for his three daughters guided much of his work.
Colleagues remember Nicholas for his warmth, humility, and unwavering generosity. Whether guiding global clients through complex challenges or offering candid advice to a junior associate, he approached every interaction with sincerity and purpose. He left a lasting mark on our Miami office and on everyone fortunate enough to work alongside him.
We extend our deepest condolences to Nicholas’s family, including his wife and three daughters. His legacy will endure through the many people he inspired, mentored, and championed throughout his distinguished career. He will be profoundly missed.
