It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Dave Coulson, our esteemed partner, colleague, and friend. He was an extraordinary lawyer and leader who touched the lives of many. Dave passed away on September 9, 2025, at the age of 62.

Over the course of his more than 30-year legal career, Dave was admired by his clients and colleagues for his exceptional skill as a lawyer. Those who worked with Dave closely remember him as diligent and driven. His passion pushed him in every aspect of life, not only as an elite trial lawyer, but also as a husband and father. He was deeply devoted to his profession and was known for his kindness, authenticity, and unwavering support of others.

Dave joined Winston in May 2022 as a founding partner of our Miami office, where he led the Florida litigation practice and served as Head of the Miami Litigation Group. He played a pivotal role in shaping and growing the office and was a source of inspiration and guidance to his colleagues. More recently, in July, Dave was inducted as a Fellow into the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only group represented by no more than 1% of the lawyers in any state. Prior to joining Winston, Dave was a shareholder for 23 years at a Miami-based international law firm, where he held several leadership positions, including head of its Miami Litigation Department and member of its national Litigation Executive Committee.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Dave’s wife, Jeannie, their children, and his entire family. His legacy will endure in the Miami office he helped build and in the countless colleagues and clients he inspired throughout his distinguished career. He will be deeply missed.
