September 11 has become an important national day of service and remembrance in the United States, known as “9/11 Day.” On 9/11 Day, we as Americans are asked to join together in unity, remember those we lost on September 11, 2001, and perform good deeds and other acts of service as a tribute to the 9/11 victims, first responders, and military personnel who rose in service in response to the attacks.
This year, the organizers of 9/11 Day ask that all of us to participate “virtually” through a special program called “9/11 Day At Home,” and to do so also in remembrance of the many people lost to COVID-19. There’s no cost or required donation involved.
How to participate:
- Visit 911day.org – Review the list of over 50 Good Deeds you can do at home for 9/11 Day. Think of these items as thought starters, pick one from the list or come up with your own ideas. Any good deed counts!
- Perform Your Good Deed – We encourage you to perform your good deed or service project on 9/11 Day itself, but you can do your good deed for 9/11 Day anytime.
- Share Your Accomplishment – We’ll be monitoring social media to help track how many deeds are performed for 9/11 Day so please share a message of support for 9/11 Day, about your deed, using #911Day and #winston4good.
