On January 18, 2012, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) posted its November 2011 Action Initiation List (AIL). The AIL lists actions that were initiated by EPA in the month of November and is current through December 15, 2011. The AIL indicates that EPA initiated a notice of proposed rulemaking with respect to the implementation of the 2008 eight-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). According to the AIL, the proposed rules will address requirements for State Implementation Plans (SIPs), including attainment demonstration, reasonable further progress, reasonably available control technology, reasonably available control measures, nonattainment new source review, emission inventory, timing for SIP submission, compliance periods and other topics.
