Decommissioning, Decontamination and Demolition of Power Plants

Eleni Kouimelis led a webinar titled Decommissioning, Decontamination and Demolition of Power Plants on September 6, 2012. This presentation discussed the regulatory drivers associated with coal plant shutdown decision-making as well as repowering due to the low cost of natural gas. It also addressed the strategy around DDD'ing a plant, the risks and benefits, as well as the legal issues around land and liability transfers. Specifically, the webinar dealt with:

• Current and future air regulations driving shutdowns and repowering
• Other environmental requirements and land transfer liabilities to consider in repurposing
• Knowing the type and value of your assets and maximizing the return on your assets
• Keys to a successful DDD project and common missteps
