North American WindPower published an article in its June 2011 issue entitled "Clarifying The Jones Act For Offshore Wind." The article, written by Winston partner Charlie Papavizas, focuses on some of the unique issues which arise from the construction of offshore wind farms in the United States as a result of a federal law known as the "Jones Act." Application of the Jones Act can significantly affect the cost and timing of any offshore construction project and is often misunderstood. The article provides a summary of some of the Jones Act principles involved.
