The Secretary General of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations announced on July 16, 2014 that, in the context of the commencement of the sixth negotiations round of the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, any trade agreement should include commitments on maritime transport. In particular, the Secretary General focused attention on the Jones Act and permitting European access to the “feedering” of international cargo in U.S. domestic commerce as well as market access for dredging and offshore services in U.S. waters.
