The firm’s Chicago and Silicon Valley offices participated in private screenings of “Marshall”—a feature film that tells the story of the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, Thurgood Marshall. The film and the screening events got rave reviews from Winston attendees and their guests:
“The movie was outstanding and informative regarding some of the lesser-known work done by Civil Rights hero and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall.”
“Without the work of Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, it is almost inconceivable to imagine being where I am today.”
“It was an excellent networking opportunity for lawyers, clients, business leaders, and judges from throughout the Chicagoland area.”
“I am truly grateful to be able to work for a law firm that is willing to sponsor and host screenings of a film telling the story of the greatest lawyer of the 20th Century.”
The Chicago event on October 11, presented by the Chicago Black Partners Alliance and co-sponsored by Winston and other law firms, concluded with a panel discussion featuring members of the judiciary and noted civil rights activists. More than 20 firm members and their guests attended this event, including Chicago Office Managing Partner and Appellate & Critical Motions Practice Chair Linda Coberly, and Associates DaWanna McCray and Sean Suber.
On October 12 in Silicon Valley, Winston co-sponsored a “Marshall” screening with ChIPs, a nonprofit organization focused on advancing and connecting women in technology, law, and policy.
