Danvers Baillieu, an English qualified solicitor, is an associate in the firm’s London office.

Mr. Baillieu focuses his practice predominantly on technology clients. His work is divided between acting on corporate matters, such as fundraisings and mergers, on commercial issues, such as licensing and affiliate deals, and on disputes, often involving intellectual property.

Mr. Baillieu’s clients are often at the cutting edge of Web technology and social media, including developers working on the iPhone App Store and several start-ups based around Twitter.

Mr. Baillieu regularly speaks at both firm events and external conferences on legal issues facing technology start ups. Together with London partner Barry Vitou, Mr. Baillieu runs “Bootlaw” a monthly meetup for technology companies at the firm’s London office.

Mr. Baillieu has experience in U.K. and international litigation and between 2003 and 2007 worked predominantly on a high-profile and complex multi-jurisdictional dispute in the telecommunications sector. In particular, he took an active role in court proceedings in the British Virgin Islands and Bermuda and arbitrations in Switzerland (ICC and Zurich ad hoc) and Sweden (SCC). Mr. Baillieu’s experience in the High Court in London includes successfully acting for an aircraft lessor against major international airlines and conducting a mediation through CEDR.

Mr. Baillieu is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.


Education

Mr. Baillieu received a B.A. in Social and Economic History from the University of Bristol, England in 1998 and a PG Diploma Law from the University of the West of England in 1999, where he completed the Legal Practice Course in 2000.
