McDonald's Corp.

| In 2002, McDonald?s announced that it planned to reduce the trans fatty acid (TFA) levels of its fried foods, but operational difficulties delayed the change. A Winston & Strawn team represented McDonald?s in a consumer fraud lawsuit brought by public interest watchdog Bantransfats.com as well as a putative class action brought on behalf of all consumers in the nation who had eaten McDonald?s fried food over a period of several years?a class that numbered in the tens if not hundreds of millions. In a settlement, McDonald?s agreed to publish notice to the class about the delay in the TFA change, and to make a charitable donation to the American Heart Association. |
