What Is the Story With the Meal Period Law and These Crazy Class Actions?

Crazy is a polite term to describe the mayhem that has occurred in California over the last several years related to meal period laws. The law says employers must “provide” meal periods. For a while, the California labor commissioner and courts took the position that “provide” means “require.”
