Winston & Strawn Earns Ranking Among Top 30 Firms for International Arbitration

Winston & Strawn's international arbitration practice earned a top spot among global law firms serving as arbitration counsel as ranked by The Global Arbitration Review in its "GAR 30" survey. The "GAR 30" firms are selected based on a composite of their scores in three key categories—reputation, work, and experience. Winston's 28 pending matters with a value of US$5.4 billion contributed to the firm's inclusion on this list of elite international arbitration firms.

The "GAR 30" results were published in the December 2007 issue of The Global Arbitration Review, which cites Winston's impressive work in Latin American arbitration matters. GAR also noted the firm's "well respected" Geneva practice, with nearly two decades of diverse experience and a growing roster of representations involving Russia and the other CIS countries. According to Geneva office managing partner Marc Palay, Winston is able to attract this work due in part to the firm's strong Russian language capabilities.

According to GAR, the top 30 ranked firms "can claim to be the most arbitration-literate of the current law firms. They would presumably be the firms best able to satisfy the client seeking something 'extra' for a major dispute headed into arbitration."
