Winston’s Los Angeles office opened in October 1999, expanding the firm’s presence to the West Coast. The firm soon moved the L.A. office to a larger space in the Wells Fargo Center to accommodate its steady growth. We now have over 60 attorneys in the L.A. office who practice in several of the firm’s core practice areas—litigation, labor and employment relations, corporate and private equity, energy, and intellectual property—on a national and regional basis.

The firm's prominent energy practice group in Los Angeles and San Francisco was a major milestone in the growth of Winston's West Coast offices. In L.A., this practice encompasses regulatory, infrastructure and finance law emphasizing independent energy development, operation, restructuring and privatization.

On the corporate side, the L.A. office focuses on commercial, real estate, and venture financings, as well as leveraged buyouts and other private equity transactions. Our restructuring and insolvency attorneys in L.A. are regularly called upon to represent creditors committees and debtors in major Chapter 11 matters, as well as handle DIP financings for lenders.

The firm's L.A. office has achieved particular prominence in the defense of wage and hour class actions, and also has built a successful practice handling complex securities and commercial cases, including class actions, as well as international arbitration matters. In addition, Winston's Los Angeles litigation practice recently added capabilities to assist clients on compliance and enforcement matters arising under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
