Diversity Scholarship Program

Winston & Strawn Diversity Scholarship

Winston & Strawn LLP believes in taking an active role in diversifying the law school pipeline and, since 2004, has offered scholarships to diverse law school students. In selecting the scholarship recipients, we consider the students' academic achievements and extra-curricular activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, as well as interpersonal skills. Scholarship award recipients join the summer program in one of our domestic offices following the conclusion of their second year of law school, and we encourage them to consider positions with us upon graduation.

Winston & Strawn has announced its three 2013 Winston & Strawn Diversity Scholarship recipients. Each recipient is a second-year law student and will be a summer associate in one of Winston & Strawn's domestic offices during our 2013 summer program. The $10,000 scholarship will be awarded during the students' third year of law school.

The scholarship recipients and their law schools are: Lauren A. Bowman (Cornell Law School ‘14); Sabreena El-Amin (Harvard Law School ‘14); and Timothy G. Hughes (Duke University School of Law ’14). Ms. Bowman will work as a summer associate in Winston & Strawn’s New York office, Ms. El-Amin in the Chicago office and Mr. Hughes in the Charlotte office.

Candidates were evaluated on their law school and undergraduate records, including academic achievements and involvement in extra-curricular activities; their demonstrated leadership abilities and level of interpersonal skills; and their interest in practicing at a law firm following graduation. Additionally, they were asked to provide a short personal statement in support of the application.
